I love flowers…but I don’t exactly have a green thumb! So many people say that you should have plants around the house because it helps your mood and makes your house feel more comfy. I would say that I totally agree with those people! Unfortunately, I have NEVER been good at taking care of plants. No matter how hard I try I always manage to kill the poor things (shakes head in shame).
Lucky for me I’m super crafty (not the devious type of crafty) and figured that I would just make some plants for my house! So, for the first plant I decided to make a super cute crochet potted rose amigurumi! This pattern is so stinking cute and works up really quickly. And…if you know someone who loves plants then this is the perfect gift for them!

FYI!
- The pot and soil for the crochet potted rose are crocheted in the round. This means that you don’t join the end of the round with a slip stitch and insert the first stitch of the next round into the first stitch from the last round.
Stitches Used!
- Increase ~ Insert two single crochet into one single crochet from last round.
- Front Loop Only ~ Instead of inserting your hook through the entire stitch you will insert your hook just under the front loop of the stitch. Then you will complete the stitch as usual.
- Back Loop Only ~ Instead of inserting your hook through the entire stitch you will insert your hook just through the back loop of the stitch. Then you will complete the stitch as usual.
- Slip Stitch ~ Insert hook into the stitch, yarn over then pull through the stitch and the loop on hook.
- Half Double Crochet ~ Yarn over, insert hook into the stitch, yarn over then pull through the stitch you now have 3 loops on hook. Yarn over and pull through all three loops on hook.

- Next, we are going to sew the soil to the pot. Roll the rim of the pot down so it’s out of your way. Then insert your yarn needle into the first back loop stitch from round 13.
- Next, sew up through the first stitch of the soil. Then continue sewing the soil to the pot through the back loops in the pot and the outside stitches of the soil. Make sure that you are not accidentally sewing through your rose or leaves while you do this!
- Then when you get about 2 inches from where you started you need to stuff your pot. Make sure to not overstuff the pot otherwise it’ll never sit flat.
- After stuffing, finish sewing the soil to the pot then fasten off and hide your yarn tail inside the pot.
- Next, after you’re finished sewing the soil to the pot you can roll the pot’s rim back up!
Then you’re done! Now you can go and make some more cute crochet potted roses in every color!
So, don’t you think the crochet potted rose amigurumi is just too cute? And… the best part is that I don’t have to worry about forgetting to water this plant! The crochet potted rose amigurumi would be so cute in so many colors and would make an AMAZING gift for the plant lover in your life!
