When I was a child my mom gave me a child’s starter sewing kit. I was SO excited to have my very own needles, ruler, and tomato pin cushion! Over the years I have lost or broken most of the parts of my original sewing supplies….except my tomato pin cushion. Needless to say that poor thing looks so well-loved and maybe needs to be retired.
So, the last time I was sewing I thought how cute would it be to crochet a sewing pin cushion! This sent me on a Pinterest rabbit hole to see if other crafters had crocheted sewing pin cushions. And sure enough, there were so many cute versions of pin cushions…..but none of them were a pig. Why a pig, well simply because I thought he would be super cute and make me smile every time I sewed with him. And you know what? That is exactly what he does! This super cute crochet pig pin cushion stands on its own and can hold a massive amount of pins. So are you ready to make your own adorable crochet pig pin cushion? Then let’s go!

FYI!
- The parts of the crochet pig cushion are crocheted in the round. This means that you don’t join the end of the round with a slip stitch and insert the first stitch of the next round into the first stitch from the last round.
Stitches Used!
- Single Crochet ~ Insert hook into stitch, yarn over, pull through the stitch, yarn over and pull through the two loops on hook.
- Increase ~ Insert two single crochet into one single crochet from last round.
- Back Loop Only ~ Instead of inserting your hook through the entire stitch you will insert your hook just through the back loop of the stitch. Then you will complete the stitch as usual.
- Slip Stitch ~ Insert hook into the stitch, yarn over then pull through the stitch and the loop on hook.
- Invisible Decrease ~ Insert hook into the first single crochet’s front loop, then insert hook into the second single crochet’s front loop, yarn over then pull through both front loops, yarn over then pull through the two loops on hook.
