Wearing a mask is so awkward! However, what is more awkward than wearing a mask is what to do with it when you take it off after leaving a store! Do you shove it in your pocket, throw it in your purse, or simply leave it on? I swear I have tried every option and none of them worked very well for me!
So, I decided to make a face mask holder strap to help my mask problem. This easy to make project makes life with a mask so much easier. The face mask holder strap just snaps on the ear straps of any mask and when you need to take off the mask is just lays around your neck so you don’t have to fuss with it! This makes it so much easier to find your mask at the next store and not have to search for it (total score).

What You Need!
- 3/8 Inch Twill Tape
- 3/8 Inch Snap Fasteners
- Matching Thread
FYI! Don’t want to buy twill tape? Then just find an old hoodie and use the hood tie! That is seriously what I made my sister’s DIY face mask holder strap with!
What to Do!
To begin the DIY face mask holder strap you need to cut the twill tape to 24 inches long.
Next, fold over 1/2 inch of the twill tape and sew down. This will help keep the tape from fraying.
Repeat for the other side of the face mask holder strap. MAKE SURE to fold both ends towards the same way!
Then measure 1 1/4 inch down from end of strap and fold.
Next, add the first side of the snap fastener on one side of the folded crease. Attach the snap using the instructions on the package.
Then add the other side of the snap on the bottom half of the folded crease and one side is finished!
Next, add the snaps for the other side of the strap. Make sure that you have your snaps at the same measurements on both sides so they match (it bothers me if they don’t!).
Then all that is left to do is add your face mask holder strap to your face mask!
Now you too can take some of the mask wearing frustration out of your life!
