As summer comes to an end I’ve been thinking a lot about the start of school (sorry kids). This could be because of ALL of the school supplies that have shown up in the local stores! I’ve ALWAYS loved school supplies and when I was a kid would look forward to the fall semester because my mom would buy me all new supplies (yep, I’m a geek)!
Even though I’m no longer in school I still love all the school supplies and find myself wandering down the aisles at Walmart to see what is new! So, in honor of the upcoming school year I wanted to make some super cute DIY magnetic bookmarks. Of course you can totally use these bookmarks for any book but for some reason I’ve always connected bookmarks to school books! So, are you ready to make these super cute bookmarks with me? Then let’s do it!

Cricut Supplies Used!
What To Do!
To begin the DIY magnetic bookmarks you need to download the free SVG file from The Pattern Stash and upload it into Cricut Design Space. Need help doing this? Check out my post How To Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space for step-by-step instructions! Next, you need to decide which bookmarks you want to make (there are four designs in the file) and cut the card stock paper.
Then line up the two sides of the bookmark and use paper glue or tape to glue the two wrong sides of the paper together. Once the bookmark is taped fold in half along the scoring lines.
Next, cut two pieces of the adhesive magnetic strip to fit and place them on top of each other. You need to make sure the two pieces magnetize to each other before you adhere them to your bookmark (trust me on this).
Then pull off the backing of the adhesive sides and stick to one side of the inside of the bookmark. Then close the bookmark on top of the magnet.
Apply pressure to the bookmark where the magnets are to insure they stick well.
Then add your super cute DIY magnetic bookmark to your favorite book (may I suggest a Jane Austen novel?)!
Now a word of caution about using a really busy pattern paper. If you do use something that has a lot of pattern it makes it harder to see the cut out design (see below). Of course, if you like this look then go for it!
I’m so in love with these super cute DIY magnetic bookmarks! And…..the best thing is they literally take no time at all to make (total score!).
