Every year at Christmas time I see all of these really cute snowmen wood block ornaments. And……every year I tell myself that I should make some for my Christmas tree. However, all of the tutorials I’ve ever found online always tell you to hand paint the faces of the snowmen. So, since I can’t free hand paint to save my life I’ve sadly never made them!
Recently I saw some really cute snowmen blocks on Pinterest and once again I wanted to make some! As I was thinking if I could possibly paint the faces it hit me! Why paint the faces when I can cut vinyl to make them? This started me on designing four really cute faces to put on each side of the wood blocks. I’m so happy with how cute these turned out! And the best part is that you don’t have to paint the faces (total score)!

What To Do!
To begin the DIY snowman wood block ornaments you need to download the free SVG file from The Pattern Stash and upload it into Cricut Design Space. Need help doing this? Check out my post How To Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space for step-by-step instructions!
FYI! The wood blocks that I used were 1.25 inches big. So, I designed the SVG snowmen faces to fit that size wood block. You can use any size wood block that you want, however, you do need to resize the faces to fit your size wood block in Cricut Design Space before you cut.
Once you have uploaded your SVG, cut out the vinyl, and weeded lay the transfer tape on top of the orange noses. Then use the Cricut scraper to adhere the transfer tape to the vinyl and remove the vinyl backing from the noses.
Next, line up the transfer tape and noses on top of the snowmen faces. Once you have them lined up lay the transfer tape down on top of the faces.
Then use the scraper once again to adhere the transfer tape to both the faces and the noses and then remove the backing of the vinyl.
Next, you need to paint your wood blocks with the white acrylic paint and let dry. Once the wood blocks are dry you are ready to add the vinyl faces to them! So, line up the first face on the first side of the wood block. Use the scraper to adhere the vinyl to the block then remove the transfer tape.
Then turn the wood block to the next side and add the next snowman face. Be careful to not let the other snowmen faces touch your table while you are doing this.
Next, add the two remaining faces to the last two sides of the wood block.
Then you are going to drill a hole in the center of the top side of the block. This is an optional step that you may not need to do. I tried to add the eye hooks to my snowmen wood block ornaments by hand but couldn’t get them to go in. So, if you can get them in by hand then hooray! If not, then use a small drill bit and drill a pilot hole in the wood block.
Next, screw in the small eye hook into the wood block.
Then the last thing to do is to add a 8 inch long jute cord or pretty ribbon to the ornament!
Next, add these super cute snowmen wood block ornaments to your Christmas tree (or gift)!
Aren’t these super cute? Now, I too have super cute snowmen ornaments and I didn’t have to do any free hand painting (insert sigh of relief here!).
