I absolutely LOVE my Cricut cutting machine and all of the amazing things that I can create with it! However, when I bought my machine and supplies it never entered my mind that I would have to store all of the vinyl rolls when not using them. So, as I tried to figure out a solution to my new found problem I discovered that a scrapbook paper container actually holds the vinyl rolls perfectly. However, as much as I love storing the vinyl rolls in the paper container I could not get the rolls to stop unrolling.
So, I racked my brain to figure out what I could use that would stop the unrolling but wouldn’t hurt the vinyl. As I was researching online for a solution I came across a blog that suggested slap bracelets to hold the vinyl rolls (genius)! So, I went to Wal-Mart and in the party department I found some slap bracelets for cheap (total score). When I went home and tried them on my vinyl rolls they worked perfectly! But since I’m a natural born creative I decided that I really would prefer if the vinyl roll wraps where cuter so I broke out my cotton scraps and this pattern was born!

Important Info!
When printing the sewing pattern PDF make sure to adjust the print settings. After you click on the print button in the PDF the printer dialog box will come up. On this screen you want to change the default zoom page size to be Actual Size. If you don’t change this setting then the pattern will print smaller then intended (so sad!).
What To Do!
To begin the vinyl roll wrap you need to download the free pattern from The Pattern Stash. Once you have the pattern you need to cut your fabric pieces.
Next, lay the two pieces of the vinyl roll wrap right sides together and pin. Mark with pins where your 3 inch turning hole will go (green pins). You want the turning hole to be on one of the non-rounded sides of the wrap.
Then sew around wrap making sure to leave open your turning hole.
Next, point cut both rounded sides making sure to not clip the seams.
Then turn the wrap right side out through your turning hole.
Next, push all of the seams out and press with iron.
Then make sure that your turning hole is turned under and press really well.
Next, insert the slap bracelet inside the fabric through the turning hole. This takes a little bit of time and patience to get inserted. I found that if I had the bracelet in the round position (when it’s been slapped) it went into the fabric easier.
Then gently press your vinyl roll wrap once more with an iron and pin the turning hole closed.
Next, sew around the entire vinyl roll wrap really close to the edge. Make sure that you DON’T hit the bracelet while you are sewing or you will break a needle. As you move the wrap through your machine just slide the bracelet to the opposite side to avoid hitting it.
Then slap that bad boy on your Cricut vinyl roll and solve your unrolling problems!
Isn’t this a fun and cute way to stop all of the annoyance of unrolling vinyl rolls? I love how easy and quick these are to make! Seriously, you could make several of these helpful little vinyl roll wraps in under an hour.
