I LOVE bookmarks and use them absolutely everywhere! Seriously, I use them in my Bible, planner, every book that I read, and practically anywhere else you can think of! My favorite kind of bookmarks are super cute magnetic bookmarks. The magnetic bookmarks are just so handy because they stay put!
Since it’s a new year I decided that I was going to tackle organizing my craft notebook. To make my notebook look a little neater I wanted to change out the sticky tabs for magnetic bookmarks. So, I went to pull out my Lisa Frank magnetic bookmarks (yes, I’m a geek) but couldn’t find them! Totally bummed, I went to tell my sister about the missing bookmarks. That’s when inspiration hit me! I could make some magnetic bookmarks using supplies I already on hand (total win!).

What To Do!
To begin the DIY mermaid tail magnetic bookmarks you need to download the free SVG file from The Pattern Stash and upload it into Cricut Design Space. Need help doing this? Check out my post How To Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space for step-by-step instructions! Next, you need to decide which size bookmarks you want (there are three sizes in the file) and cut the card stock paper.
FYI! Don’t have a Cricut machine? No worries, you can still do this super fun craft! I have included a PDF of the cut outs just for you in the free download!
Then line up the two sides of the mermaid tail and use paper glue or tape to glue the two wrong sides of the paper together.
Once the bookmark is taped fold in half along the scoring lines.
Next, cut two pieces of the adhesive magnetic strip to fit and place them on top of each other. You need to make sure the two pieces magnetize to each other before you adhere them to your bookmark.
Then pull off the backing of the adhesive side and stick to the bookmark.
Apply pressure to the bookmark where the magnets are to insure they stick well.
Then add your super cute mermaid tail magnetic bookmark to your favorite book!
These super easy magnetic bookmarks turned out so cute! Now my craft notebook is going to be super snazzy and colorful!
