DIY Paper Flower Pomander Ball

DIY Paper Flower Pomander Ball

Spring is so amazing! Seriously, who doesn’t love spring? It’s the time of year when everywhere you look you see new life springing up (no pun intended)! I always feel like spring is a gentle reminder from God that even after the harshest of times there is always the possibility of new life and therefore new hope! Trust me, I NEED this constant reminder in my life that no matter what hard times I go through there is always hope for a new beginning!

During spring I LOVE to take long walks through wooded trails or the beautifully manicured waterway that is near where I live! Every time I see the beautiful and colorful flowers it always raises my spirit no matter how my day is going! So, since I love spring and the pretty colorful flowers so much I decided that I would like to decorate inside my house with some spring touches! This led me to design a super cute paper flower pomander ball that can be used in bowls or if a treat stick is added in a vase. This super easy craft can be done while watching TV and brings the perfect spring touch to any room! As an added bonus these make AMAZING party decorations (think table centerpieces)!

What You Need!

Cricut Supplies Used!

What To Do!

To begin the paper flower pomander ball you need to download the free SVG from The Pattern Stash and upload it into Cricut Design Space. Need help doing this? Then check out my post How To Upload SVG Files to Cricut Design Space for step-by-step instructions!

FYI! Don’t have a Cricut machine to cut out the flowers? Then no worries! With the free SVG there is a PDF of the flowers that you can print on colored paper and cut out with scissors.

Next, you need to figure out what colors you want your flowers to be. I chose two colors for each ball because I wanted the balls to have contrast. For each ball you need to cut two full 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of card stock flowers.

Then take acrylic paint that is a similar color to your flowers and paint your foam balls. This is an optional step and if you don’t mind seeing the white foam under the flowers then you’re good to go. However, if you’re like me and hate seeing the white foam then you need to paint them! Next, paint the treat sticks a green color (I used hunter green) and let dry.

Then take your first flower and roll one of the petals over the treat stick. This will give it a rounded appearance when you glue it onto the ball.

Roll The Petal Using Stick

Next, repeat the rolling process for the other three petals.

Roll In Each Petal Of Flower

Then glue your first flower onto your foam ball. It doesn’t really matter where you place your first flower since there is not pattern to the flower placement.

Next, keep glueing flowers as close or far apart as you like. This is the time for you to get creative! You can place the flowers in absolutely any way that makes you happy inside! Keep adding flowers making sure to NOT glue down the petals. If the petals are laying down on the foam ball gently push them up as you add the next flower.

Continue Adding Flowers On Entire Foam Ball

Next, continue adding flowers until every area of the foam ball is covered! If you plan on putting the paper flower pomander ball in a bowl or on a shelf then you are finished!

However, if you would like to put the paper flower pomander ball in a vase then take the treat stick you painted and put some hot glue on one end. Then push the treat stick into the foam ball between the flowers making sure to NOT hurt any of them.

Add A Treat Stick To Paper Flower Pomander Ball

Isn’t this just the cutest way to bring some spring into your house and remind you of new life? These paper flower pomander balls are great for house decor but also would be amazing for party decorations! Seriously, wouldn’t these be super cute in cream and white for wedding decor?
